Welcome to Inspiration Myo
My name is Dayna Lopez, Registered Dental Hygienist and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist! I work with you to correct dysfunctional oral habits such as mouth breathing, tongue thrusting, tongue tie pre and post op therapy, upper airway restrictions, snoring and much more. With exercises and stretches and the incorporation of neuromuscular reeducation, we strengthen the muscles of the face and mouth and teach the brain and facial muscles to communicate, in order to achieve proper nasal breathing, proper tongue posture, proper lip seal and correct chewing and swallowing patterns.
Myofunctional Therapy
What is Myofunctional Therapy?
“Exercise and neuromuscular re-education based therapy for children and adults designed to help tone and strengthen the muscles of the head, neck, face, and tongue. These muscles play a crucial role in supporting jaw development, proper nasal breathing, sleep, tongue posture, and the ability to chew and swallow effectively.”
What does Myofunctional Therapy help address?
Myofunctional Therapy helps address a wide range of dysfunctions in both children and adults, including habitual mouth breathing, tongue ties, sleep-disordered breathing, snoring, sleep apnea, TMJ dysfunction, swollen tonsils and adenoids, crooked or crowded baby teeth, and those in need of braces—along with many other concerns!

Comprehensive Evaluation
When embarking on the journey of therapy, our initial step entails a thorough assessment spanning 60-90 minutes. Throughout this process, we delve into your health narrative, including pertinent details regarding your birth and feeding experiences, and the background of your symptoms. By meticulously exploring these facets, I can better tailor therapy sessions to precisely address your individual needs.
How I can help
At Inspiration Myo, we are dedicated to helping children and adults achieve optimal oral and facial function through a personalized myofunctional therapy program. We support healthy facial development, improved sleep, and better overall well-being. Our goal is to empower individuals to breathe, sleep, and thrive—leading to a healthier, more functional life.

Mouth Breathing
Mouth breathing contributes to a myriad of health complications. We see an increase in cavities, enlarged tonsils and adenoids, bad breath, poor sleep, signs and symptoms of ADD and ADHD, especially in children, difficulty chewing and swallowing and so on.
Snoring/ Sleep Apnea
Strengthening the soft palate, proper nasal breathing and teaching the tongue to rest up in the palate helps reduce or eliminate snoring as well as making the C-PAP more functional and comfortable to wear.
Tongue Thrusting
Have you or your child gone through orthodontic treatment only to have the teeth shift and bite open up again? When the tongue thrusts forward and puts outward pressure on the teeth, this creates an open bite. Myo helps correct this by addressing improper chewing and swallowing patterns and teaching the tongue to stay up in the palate.
Pre and Post op Frenectomy Therapy
Myofunctional therapy is essential to a successful frenectomy. With pre and post op stretches and exercises, the chance of "reattachment" is unlikely, and we are then able to achieve the four goals of Myo which are, nasal breathing, tongue up in palate, lip seal and proper chewing and swallowing patterns.
